Letting the Earth make the Mark

Saturday 22 November

2 - 5pm

Join talented artist Phoebe Maroulis in this hands-on workshop in conjunction with her Art Club Gallery exhibition In the Time it Takes to DryParticipants are invited into a playful, spacious exploration of natural pigments on mini canvases.

Suitable for adults and teens - all materials supplied.

Participants will use earth pigments and plant-based inks and learn to allow the materials to guide the process. Learn how to manage what happens when we let the ink bleed in unexpected ways. Explore the delight of the smudge or un-neat edges.

This workshop is an invitation to release control, to follow the pigment, and to witness how the earth makes its own mark through us. Together, we’ll slow down, stay curious, and create small, layered pieces that carry the trace of a shared process moment. Enrol with a favourite friend, child or relly to make it a shared experience!

Participants will leave with living artefacts of play, material empathy and embodied curiosity.

ArtClub classes and events are designed for a rich creative experience. Our studio environment enables participants to develop confidence with various graphic techniques. Create. Learn. Connect.

Your Tutor

Phoebe Maroulis is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the meeting place of material, curiosity and presence. Working primarily with earth pigments, plant-based inks, and layered textural techniques, her practice foregrounds process over product. An embodied inquiry into emergence, mark-making, and co-creation with the rest of nature.

Her artworks unfold slowly, shaped as much by breath, time, and gravity as by brush or hand. Each piece holds traces of stillness and motion, offering not answers but invitations: to pause, to feel, to witness what becomes visible when control is released.

Phoebe lives and creates in close relationship with the ecology that shapes both her materials and her process.
