Well-known artist and muralist Jack ‘Fishdog’ Randell outlines techniques for designing a mural. From the basics of negotiating a design with all involved, to the practical useful methods for painting on site in a safe and sustainable way with participants regardless of skill level, for placing and painting public art murals.

Our recent “Mural Making - Storytelling” was a 3 part mural series delivering engaging new public art works for communities in Dubbo, Wellington and Narromine and mentoring young people during the project, that was funded by Create NSW, with support from Narromine & Dubbo Councils.

The subject for these murals serendipitously all turned out to be local bird species, as determined through our community engagement program. Each has a unique story to their local community.

'bin chicken' Australian White Ibis (Threskiornis molucca) Dubbo ... Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) in Narromine and Wedge-tailed Eagle (Aquila audax)  known as 'Maliyan' in Wiradjuri, proudly in Wellington.

Fun was had, things were learnt, stories told  and memories made!

Thank you to all communities for your enthusiastic participation… check the murals at…
